This is a good read for both the beginner and experienced killifish keeper. It has good advice and tactics for breeding, buying, and selling killies and their eggs. It mostly talks in generalities of annuals, semi-annuals, and non-annuals and offers very little species-specific information. If you want detailed information about individual killifish species then this is not the book for you.I enjoyed the chapter on fish photography, it is something that has always been hard for me. This books explains shutter speed, aperture, and other photography techniques in an easy to understand way for those of us with limited camera experience and know-how. Overall a good read with great pictures! The author really knows his stuff but there are quite a few grammatical mistakes, to the point where you question if it was proofread before being published. The pages are not the high-quality glossy pages like other similar books but a lower quality paper.I do really like how this book is very informational and easy to understand. It cuts the fluff and gets straight to the point.Yes I would recommend it.
Very informative book covering literally everything about Killifish, the book is written in a very useful and detailed way but also in a writing style that is very easy to understand and learn from. I've read a few books related to these kind of fish but none of the others have even came close to the usefulness found in these pages.One of the main things that I really admire about this book are the mass amount of very colorful and high quality photographs that are incorporated into different chapters of the book, they add a great visual aid to the information and it helped me understand the topics that are discussed in great detail. These fish are fascinating and the book answered all my questions that I had previously about them
I have been wanting a Killi book for years. This one is first rate. I have read it over and over on my tablet. The pictures are beautiful and the information better than what I could gather from the internet. If you need a good introduction to this cryptic segment of the aquarium hobby? I found this book very good. I've kept killifish off and on over the years and have a few books about them. I find this book to be the best of it's type that I have, I refer to it not only for killifish information but for general information on raising live foods, setting up the aquarium room and the how to on photographing fish is an excellent section for me as I'm not an expert at photography.
This book is an excellent reference book about Killifish, but also contains a lot of valuable general fish information including culturing live food for adult and baby fish and a detailed section on fish photography. The book itself is illustrated with superb photographs.I have kept fish for over 50 years, but I've only had Killifish from time to time and never concentrated on this unusual and outstandingly beautiful group of fish. Most of the fish I've kept and bred are from the more common groups like Tetras, Barbs, Catfish and Livebearers. This book has inspired me to branch out into Killifish.
Although I've raised tropical fish for 40+ years I've never had killifish.. This book is a great introductory text that lays out all aspects of keeping them; buying them online, or raising them from eggs. The illustrations are numerous and well done. One of the best introductory books on any subject I've ever bought. Totally recommend for the beginning killikeeper.
This is a really cool book with good information. I only knocked off one star because there were a couple of creases on the cover and some of the pages were bent. It was shipped well just seemed to somehow gain some wear on the way. I would reccomend it 100%!
I like this book, the format makes finding specific information relatively easy and the photos are well done. A fairly comprehensive look into basic killifish keeping.
